Let's Address The Elefant In The Room
Amazon's infamous October "Prime Day" just ended and I have to say I was so happy with some of the deals, that I may have added a few more things to my cart than I needed.
Now, I love a good sale, but let's be real, in the past brands have been known to mark up prices a few months in advance then drastically slash the price, only for consumers to find out that the "sale price" was the original price all along.
Unfortunately, this has created a tremendous amount of distrust for Amazon's consumers. After all, if it says we are getting a sale, nobody wants to be lied to or bamboozled into just paying the regular price.
So, this Prime Day, I was on the lookout to make sure that I was purchasing from brands who did not have a history of bamboozling their consumers and that I was not getting bamboozled myself.
Skincare Restocks & Tried-and-True Favorites
For some context, going into Prime Day I knew I needed to stock up on a few of my essentials, and I knew there were some new products I was wanting to try!
Starting with beauty!
I am currently in the Midwest am getting ready travel even farther out west, so I needed to get a few skincare products that were suitable for dry and windy climates!
I had previously tried the Anua Glowy Milky Toner a little over a year ago and loved how hydrated it made my skin feel as well as how glowy and healthy of a complexion it gives when I used it. I ran out of it a few months back, but knew that if it went on sale I wanted to snag it. I added it to my save for later section and sure enough when Prime Day started, I snagged it for $15 compared to the original $20 it typically retails for!
I am also on my tretinoin journey and have had the pleasure of developing the side effect of peeling skin and if I'm being honest, sometimes it looks like a snake that is shedding their skin and it's just not cute. The aftermath is cute, but the treacherous process... well let's just say I had been out of the one product I have found that helps alleviate this side effect which is the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm and there was a $3 off coupon for Prime Day. Realistically I would have bought this anyway but like I said at the beginning, I always love a sale.
The Ultimate Everyday Beauty Repurchase
Moving along, this next beauty item that I picked up was actually my 4th repurchase of this item because I truly love it so much. I have to admit that I have tried to branch out and try new products to see if there is something with a tad bit more coverage but I have not found anything close that compares to the Saie Slip Tint SPF 35 skin tint.
This Prime Day they were offering $8 off; their original price point of $38 went down to $30 and I snagged another bottle of this glowy
goodness while the sale was that good!
Low-Maintenance Cleansing Essentials
I try my best to wash my face every night especially if I'm wearing makeup although, I find it hard to get all of my makeup off especially around my eyes which are fairly sensitive.
I used to use micellar water but since I have been traveling, I found it most convenient to use the Neutrogena travel size makeup removing wipes.
These retail for $8.29 and I snagged them for $4.97. Looking back at it, I wish I would have snagged 2 instead of just one!
Trying New Beauty Finds & High-End Dupes
Now let's talk about beauty items I'm trying for the first time!
I picked up the SHEGLAM Pout-Perfect Moisturizing Solid Lip Plumper which I thought could be a possible dupe for the Tarte Maracuja lip plumper that I absolutely adore. Although at the original price of only $6 and the sale price of $4, I wanted to give it a try and see if it compared. I love both high-end and affordable beauty products because if I'm being honest, I am more likely to repurchase a product that is at a lower price point because it is more attainable to keep stocked up if I run out. Compared to high-end beauty products, I am a much harsher critic of its performance and will only repurchase if the quality matches the price point. I got the color: Glitter Pink Flamingo and I am so excited to try it out and I will add the link to that blog post where you can read my full review for it, when it is posted!
Entering My Powder Era
I also picked up the NYX Buttermelt blush and bronzer to try! I have been seeing these products all over my for you page and recently my friend could not stop raving about how good these products are so I am very excited to give them a try! I have used a liquid or cream contour for as long as I can remember, although I have recently been watching YouTube videos to work on my makeup technique and it was actually suggested to use a powder bronzer which I have tried in the past but many, many years ago. So I picked up this duo to give my powder era a try. Both of them were around $3 off making the total around $7 each. The original pricing retails at $11.
Non-Beauty Cozy Finds
Lastly the only non-beauty item I picked up on Prime Day was some cozy fall/winter ruffle socks! I have been wanting to find some cute new socks for a while as my current ones leave an imprint on my skin and it's not cute, but these socks were adorable! I snagged them for $6.64 and the original price of these socks retails for $7.97.
Total Spend & Final Verdict
In total with all of these items, my total came out to be $90.91! I'm curious to know if you think I got bamboozled or if you think I got a good deal? Leave a comment below and let me know!
